My name is Annalece Hunter. I write layered stories weaving the past with the present, and filled with romance, mystery, history, a touch of something otherworldly, and a penchant for the gothic tale.

Welcome, Dear Reader

A pleasure you’ve joined me…

Who knew it would take so long to write a book? The professionals make it look easy.

Kate Morton I’m looking at you!

After years of working on my manuscript (and losing count of the drafts I’ve tossed) I’ve discovered writing a book is not for the faint of heart.

These years have included taking classes, reading books, getting critiques, and the list goes on.

The following by Lisa Rogers sums up the process best:

“Rough drafts are quick. Manuscripts you’re proud to publish after editing, revising, reading, and writing; that’s what takes the time. Getting it right. That’s what takes time. Ensuring you’ve put the reader first.”

I love that: “Ensuring you’ve put the reader first.”

My goal will always be putting you, the reader, first and creating something you absolutely LOVE, no matter how long it takes to master my craft and deliver on my promise.

(And a towering Thank-YOU to all who have stopped by for many years, checking in.)

While you wait for me to finally write “The End” I have plenty for you to discover right here, such as my narrated short story “Animas Forks” which I shared on social media and just for fun.

Click on the play button above. I love Lillian Rachel’s voice on a particular character.

I hope you do too.

If you enjoyed “Animas Forks” click on over to my Passions and Obsessions Blog. I have a few more atmospheric yarns with curious goings-on ready for you, either my own or treasures from literature.

And over on my Bookstore Blog I write-up book reviews focusing on works of fiction, contemporary reads as well as the classics.

But don’t forget subscribing at the bottom of this page before you leave. If I find a moment to share a book recommendation other musings—or any news—you will be the first to know.

I’m also on social media. Pinterest is where I’ll likely be, creating thematic storytelling-inspired boards.

Who Am I?

I am a writer with a degree in English Literature. A few years back I exchanged my Creekside Cottage in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains for an Antique New England Farmhouse in the Woods of New Hampshire.

What Do I Do?

Trotting back and forth between the Northeast and the Southwest I write, weaving the past with the present, mostly working from my studio in New Mexico’s serene high desert, the perfect place for crafting stories full of romance, mystery, history, a touch of something otherworldly, and a penchant for the Gothic Tale.

What Do I Like?

19th-Century Gothic Romance, Ancestry and Folklore, Antique Homes, Discovered Journals, Ancient Forests, Candlelight and Firelight, Village Festivals, Ghost Stories, The Olde Ways.

All things Romantic, Mysterious, and Beautiful.
